MOH has also identified 66 close contacts of the confirmed cases. These close contacts are being actively monitored and quarantined. They will be tested for the Wuhan virus if they develop symptoms.
MOH has implemented a number of public health measures to contain the spread of the Wuhan virus, including:
- Enhanced surveillance for early detection of cases
- Contact tracing to identify and isolate close contacts
- Isolation and treatment of confirmed cases
- Quarantine of close contacts
- Public health education and awareness campaigns
- Travel advisories and border controls
Members of the public are advised to take the following precautions to protect themselves from infection with the Wuhan virus:
- Wash your hands frequently with soap and water or alcohol-based hand sanitizers
- Avoid touching your face
- Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue paper or your sleeve when coughing or sneezing
- Stay home if you are sick
- Seek medical attention if you have symptoms of the Wuhan virus, such as fever, cough, or shortness of breath
